Are we a good match?

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of young people? With the help of community partners and volunteers like you, Water Walkers uses the transformative power of watersports, outdoor adventure, and education to help youth in Nashville walk on the rough waters of life.
We build confidence and community among kids who have little exposure to the world beyond the boundaries of the city. By bringing them outside these limitations and into the beauty of nature, we open a sense of wonder, ambition, and inspiration in their lives.

If that appeals to you–and sounds like we would be a good match–please continue reading, or express your interest in volunteering or donating.

We EMPOWER student leaders using five interconnected Pillars of Programming.

Check them out below!

Outdoor Adventure

Pillar 1

Water Walkers was founded with the goal of providing access to watersports and outdoor adventures for youth typically confined to their urban neighborhood. The objective has been to create unique opportunities for the kids to build confidence and competencies by facing fears and overcoming challenges–while having a lot of fun!

Education

Pillar 2

Water Walkers provides educational enrichment programs year-round (weekly Monday-Friday) to equip students with learning skills so they are reading, writing and completing math on grade level (or above).

WELLNESS

Pillar 3

Water Walkers offers mental health assessments and weekly counseling to promote and maintain the health, well-being, and connectedness of students, especially if they are dealing with Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs).

BASIC NEEDS

Pillar 4

Water Walkers partners with local churches and agencies to provide food and hygiene products weekly to enhance the physical, mental, and emotional health of young people and their families.

LEADERSHIP

Pillar 5

For older teens who qualify, Water Walkers provides a paid 12-month leadership development program consisting of job training, work experience, mentorship, and community.
